S/V Optimistic is located in Snug Harbor, off the Absecon Inlet.

Captain: John Pope

Captain John holds a United States Coast Guard 50 ton Master license with sail endorsement.  He has  50+ years of experience on the water including over 20 years of sailing with cruises from New England to the Florida Keys. He is also a former J24 Class sail racer.

Vessel: Optimistic is a 30 foot sloop designed by the renowned marine architect and  yacht designer Capt. Halsey Herreshoff, and built by Bristol Yachts of Bristol, Rhode Island.

Optimistic displays classic lines and, with her modified full keel design, she is fast, safe, and comfortable.  She is also fully equipped with modern electronic navigation and safety devices such as VHF radios, GPS chart plotter, auto pilot, Automatic Identification System (AIS), and radar.  

Additionally, there is a galley and marine toilet for your comfort.  A dodger and bimini top provide protection from spray and shade from the summer sun.  There is also plenty of open deck space for those who prefer to enjoy their sailing experience in the open air.
